After living and working in the great city of Chicago, my family and I decided to shake things up a bit and move to Colorado. It was not an easy decision, but sometimes in life we have to make hard choices to grow and seek new adventures. I will miss my family and friends dearly, but I am sure we will have many visitors out where we are moving to. I will be running my studio from the Boulder area of Colorado and am excited to see how this new place will inspire my work and life. Here are a few snapshots of our new backyard.
A few weeks ago I was notified that this image had won this competition out of thousands of entries. Holy crap! I was very surprised. The brief was to take a photograph that creatively captures daylight and celebrates the role natural light plays in our daily lives. I shot this in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago last year on a hot Summer day. The prize is a photo safari to NYC for two. Can't wait to explore that city and capture some new images. Thank you to the judges who picked this image. Amazing! Here is a link to the competition.
This years Art for Haiti II was an amazing event which raised 32k to help the Global Health Fund at Rush University Medical Center. They send medical teams over to Haiti and the Dominican Republic and many orphanages in Haiti. We are very proud to be part of such a great event. Thanks again to everyone who came out to support our cause. Check out the branding and design work we created for the event.
Marek talking about Art for Haiti Benefit and how it raises money for medical teams to go over to Haiti and Dominican Republic.
The benefit was a great turn around! 400 wonderful people showed up, we raised $30,000 and 90% of all artwork sold out. We would say not bad for the first one! If you missed it, we are planning another one next year! Thank you all for your support and generosity! We will be updating our website soon with some materials we’ve designed for the benefit, so stay tuned! Meanwhile, check out the pictures below and go to Art for Haiti facebook page for more pictures and updates.
Here is the fun process of our 13“x 19″ hand painted, two sided photo books! Each book cover is a giclée on canvas and hand painted. The inside of the books are printed from our friends at Vision Graphics and hand bound by United Bindery, Chicago. The Haiti side is photographed by Brian Wetzstein and the D.R. side by Marek Hosek. Each book was sold at the Art For Haiti II benefit. Thanks to everyone who helped us with the production, you know who you are.
This is a printed self-promo poster we designed for our clients and friends. All was designed, photographed and hand illustrated by us. If you want one, let us know? We will be happy to place one in the mail for you.
