I challenged myself with creating a different letter each day for 36 days. This was definitely a habit building project as much as a creative outlet for me. 36 days is a pretty long time to commit to doing something everyday. Here is the result.
This year is about Music, Graffiti and murals from Chicago, Dominican Republic and Haiti. I tried to incorporate the spirit into this series of posters which will be on sale at the event.
A series which shows the line up and some illustrations.
Some images from the gig!
Every year I brand this amazing event which raises cash to send Doctors and Artists to Haiti and D.R. It's always a fun project because I try to develop a whole new identity for each year. This being the 6th one, I went with a very typographic logo which has a feel of a neon art sign. The poster still uses the logo but has icons connected to it which symbolize what the event is all about. It will be a 3 color 18"x24"silkscreen poster printed on Pop-Tone Black Licorice French Paper! Here is the design from last year so you can see how the look changes from each year.
Well, another 4 years has gone by and it's time to vote for our next president. I love creating a poster each term because it really gets my creative juices flowing. Four years ago I designed this poster which talked about balance. This term I want to bring to the surface "individuality". This topic is very important especially with every major topic which has been discussed on the campaign trail. I used typography as characters to express how important it is for us to stay true to ourselves during these Elections. I hope it reaches some people and makes them go out and Vote. This is an initiative created by AIGA which will be spread across the Nation.

I have been working on a project which was inspired by the birth of my daughter Mattie Jo. I use lower-case Helvetica letter-forms and create typeface characters out of them. I want kids to be able to memorize the alphabet while having fun looking at the characters I create.
I have been testing this on my Mattie and she really gets a kick out of them. Here are a few I came up with so far.
I am super excited about having mamas sauce print my new business cards. These bad boys are nothing short of excellence! 230#, 2.5" x 3.5" duplexed on Neenah epic black & natural white eggshell, foil stamped, letter pressed and printed to perfection! I could not be any happier with the outcome.
It has been some time since I picked up my brushes and painted, so for this years Art For Health Benefit I decided to give it a shot. I wanted to try something new and challenge myself a bit with painting into photographs I shot in Haiti and the D.R.
Each piece is a 24" x 36" black & white xerox print with my acrylic paint mixed in. I was not sure what to expect from this experiment, but it turned out pretty cool. I even sold 4/6 of the pieces at the benefit. This little project sparked my love for painting again and I am hoping to do some more this Winter.
